mail enabling a public folder

I think this should be easy, but I can't figure out how to do it.
I have a distribution group that is mail-enabled which receives automated
emails. I would rather have that email end up in a public folder (rather
than several mailboxes) where folks who want to see those messages can view
them as required.
Can I, mail enable that public folder and just add that address to the
distribution group?
If so, how do I mail enable the public folder?
Thanks,
Steve
