Hi Kirill,

the reasons which you listed are not accurate for the configurations in our
side:

- On the client side, the users use RPC over HTTP, IMAP4 or POP3 and have
problmes to send mails to external addresses. In the user profile, it is
configured that users must authenticate bevor send any mail.
- There is no access restriction for users for any Exchange services. Even
Exchange administrator cannot send any mail to external users.
- Our firewall is open for mail traffic (SMTP, POP3, ActiveSync, RPV over
HTTP/HTTPS, etc.)

Any other idea?

You may receive this message either because you use POP3/SMTP mail
client and it is not configured to authenticate with the server for
outgoing e-mail or your firewall prevents Exchange from sending mail out.
If you use Outlook in "Exchange Server" mode (or OWA) you do not need to
enable relaying in Exchange (your firewall needs to allow sending mail out).

Hi together,
I have a big problem to send to any recipient which has an external domain
(outside of Exhange organization).
I deployed Exchange 2003 + SP2 based on Windows 2003 AD.
- Installation of Exchnage is a default installation.
- Default recipient policy exists.
- There is no restriction to send mails.
- Only SMTP VS1 is used to send mails.

The users on Exchange server cann send mails internally without any problem.
BUT if they send any mail to an user who has an external domain address,
they get the following error:
"550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for username@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx".

On the SMTP VS, the option "Allow all computers which successfully
authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above" is enabled.

Please help!

Best Regards
Mustafa
