Exchange 2000/2003 Smarthost

Hello

I have 2 Exchange 2000 Servers Front End/Back/End Config
I upgraded my front end server to Exchange 2003 STD
i am using a smarthost config on my SMTP Virtual Server and i was told
i need to move that to my SMTP Connector
but each time I put my [IP ADDRESS] of my smarthost in my smtp
connector my outgoing emails just queue up then go to destination
unreachable queue

I have telneted to my frontend server my backend server and my
smarthost server and sent test messages from all 3 boxes using a telnet
session

I'm not sure what else to try?

any suggestions

Thank you

.
