Hi Mark,
Ok this is not about bad attitude, I was just confused with fact that so
simple task such as smtp client|server auth can't be setup. You r right I was
talking about smart host and fact is that I have broadband connection to
Internetwork. That is dynamic IP as U probable assume. Just return little bit
in the past, in time when ms collaboration software such as Exchange was in
"learning" phase, and in main.cf MS MUA's was called broken clients. I know
that you have to agree with this couse this is all about RFC's. But never
mind that, only bad thing is that that i need to setup my other mail server
on fixed ip address, change MTA port nomber and relay complete ISP subnet. In
era of HighPerformance computing this is little bit funny.
Just try to google string "The remote SMTP service rejected AUTH negotiation".
There is no logical answer belive me. I have found only two KB's on
microsoft support, and the funiest thing about that that offical doc, says
use anonymous access.
Can You belive that :). Other is more descriptive such as use TURN/ETRN but
that is not solution I'm 1000% shure in that. My question is: Is it possible
to setup smart host with smtp auth and what are the prerequisites? Where can
I find solution for this?
Kind Regards
Adnan

I have sucessfully installed and configured lot of mail servers both unix and

install and configure sbs 2003, pay expensive call's and server licences,
amazed with fact that is so easy to setup mail server with smpt auth, tls and
various toys, setup incredible pop3 connector integrate AD users into
exchange mailboxes, try to send test email.....and your mail queue has a
little blue checkmark...u click on it and message in statusbar is shamefull.
"The remote SMTP service rejected AUTH negotiation"...i need to use smtp auth
on outgoing server, my ISP blocks all outbound connections to port 25, and
IT'S MUST TO USE ISP'S SMTP!!!!i browse the documentation, call for ISP
support, but nothing...wrong articles in MS KB's...nothing...never spent so
much time looking for soulution. i have configured postfix so many times
manualy, and there is much more information on this rather on sbs exchange
2003. can anyone resolve this funny issue with exchange smart host with smtp
auth??? i can't belive that there is no solution for this !!!
Any chance you could shush with the ranting?
SBS does it the same as proper Exchange and plain old SMTP in IIS
without Exchange.
If you need to send everything to your ISP then you are looking for
the word "smarthost" on the SMTP virtual server (as you have already
identified). "Forward all messages to" (not to be confused with the
"forward a copy of NDR's and the "forward all unresolved mail to ...
host"). It's off the delivery tab.
Trust me, it's a simple task. If you stop with the attitude on
Exchange and just approach it with a logical and open mind you will be
able to go straight there. It's simply a matter of terminology used.
If the ISP are blocking 25 outbound (it's their network and their
decision, you can't abuse or blame Microsoft for that!!) then what
makes you think that they're expecting to see Exchange Servers? Why
don't you choose an ISP that is more business like and allows SMTP.
Come on.
