The limits are enforced pretty quickly. To speed up the effectiveness of
the threshold settings, consider implementing this registry hack for say, 15
minutes:

Good Day,
I have a simple question that I hope somebody can answer on this group.
I am implanting size restriction on our Exchange 2003 SP2 server. I am
almost finished setting the first threshold and will go to the second
threshold in a few days once everybody gets below the first threshold.
From what I know the setup of the Exchange server is a standard install
and no reg changes were done.
Here is my question.
Once I set the first threshold 300000KB and they go below that threshold,
then I set the second threshold lets say at 400000KB. This gives them
more then enough warning in-between the thresholds
I know that there is some time delay after setting the first threshold and
this is where my question lies.
Now the user goes above the second threshold. How long will it take for
him to stop sending emails?
Meaning: Is it right then and there or is there a delay?
How long will it take for the system to allow the user after he deletes
his email so that he his below the second threshold before the system
allows him to send email again?
Meaning, after he deletes a ton of email, will the system allow him to
send email right then and there, or will he have to wait over night for it
to go through processes?
At this time I do not plan on setting the third threshold.
Thanks for you help and advise on these questions.
