If it's showing TCP/IP it's communicating that way. It is my experience
that Outlook will connect using TCP/IP if it can no matter how you configure
it.

Thanks for your sharing. Sorry about my unclear question.

I want to know what's the Conn column shown in the connection status if
you
sucessfully made rpc over https? Because it shows TCP/IP in the Conn
column
of connection status of outlook even if I believe I have rpc over https
connection?

TCP/IP means Outlook is using RPC over TCP/IP for the connection.
HTTPS means Outlook is using RPC over HTTPS for the connection.

Thanks for your quick response.

Actually, I want to know what's the column Conn shown for Directory and
Mail
type in the connection status of outlook 2003?

Such as TCP/IP or HTTPS? (if you use rpc over https)

Hi all,

I still have trouble to set up rpc over https, I followed so many
documents
and still struggle. For those who sucessfully deployed the rpc over
https,
can you tel me what's the column Conn shown for Directory and Mail
type
in
the connection status of outlook 2003? (If you hold CTRL and right
click
outlook icon at the right cornor, you are avle to choose the
connection
Status)

Thanks for your sharing.

You'll kick yourself:

The Directory tells you what DC you're talking to (through the RPC
proxy obviously, not direct)
The Mail tells you what mailbox server you're on and what Public
Folder servers (if different/additional) you're connected to.
