Hi everybody.
I would start with events I think are relevant.
appeared as errors:

Source: MSExchangeSA, Event ID: 9175
The MAPI call 'OpenMsgStore' failed with the following error:
The Microsoft Exchange Server computer is not available. Either there are
network problems or the Microsoft Exchange Server computer is down for
maintenance.
The MAPI provider failed.
Microsoft Exchange Server Information Store
ID no: 8004011d-0526-00000000

Firth ones we found as
warning is:
Source: MSExchangeIS, Event ID: 9672
A stack exception was thrown in module C:\WINDOWS\system32\ntdll.dll; some
parameters and their values were <Exception address - f052002>. A
significant section of the call stack is in the data section.

...and as error:
Source: Service Control Manager, Event ID: 7024
The Microsoft Exchange Information Store service terminated with
service-specific error 2147500037 (0x80004005).

fixing using eseutil /p /createstm as this one was damaged helped
than eseutil /d again, but!
question is WHY this happened where there are no obvious reasons at all
nothing was stopped unexpectedly
system is up do date win2003sp1 plus (critical MS patches) Exch2003sp2
nothing like storage limitations, nothing else seems to be failing aside
from things explicitly related to exchange
