rpc/https is your solution

I was told to get SMTP encrypted, using OWA over HTTPS is easy enough,
but i believe they want the clients to use Outlook isntead of a web
browser.
I will try port 26 as you used, but from what ive tried, Outlook 2003
doesnt like using SSL over any other port besides 25.

why not let Outlook connect using RPC (on the LAN) or RPC/HTTPS (outside
the
LAN) and do away with allowing relaying alltogether on the SMTP VS?

I am trying to run two seperate SMTP Virtual servers to block relay
attempts and secure my clients email with encryption.
VS1 allows anonymous access, but is running a smart host so other mail
servers can deliver email to my exchange users only. This runs on the
standard port 25.
VS2 allows authenticated access only, ontop of that it forces the
client to use SSL for encryption so my exchange users can send mail to
other domains after authenticated without worry. At this time, this
runs on non-standard port 465.
It is my understanding that Outlook 2003 will not support SSL traffic
on any other port besides 25. Seeing how im on a single public ip
network and want to allow other mail servers to deliver email without
having to issue a SSL connection, i would have to keep VS1 on port 25.
Is there any better solution to block relay attempts and secure my data
that goes to and from my email server?
I know this can be done with ISA server with multiple public ip
addresses, but i am limited to a single public ip address at this time.
Help!
