Trying to get PocketPC to sync with server - please help!

Here in our organization we are running Exchange 2003, service pack 1 and
it's running on Windows 2003 server. The server is accessible by Outlook Web
Access (OWA). I have a mobile device - a Pocket PC (Samsung i700) running
Windows Mobile 2002. I'd like to sync my device to the server over TCP/IP
(it's a phone also, so is on the net when needs to be). I entered the server
IP address into the ActiveSync menu on the device, and it tries to connect,
but it doesn't work. The error I got has something to do with certificates.
I found on-line an executable to run on my device which adds the
certificate, but the certificate won't open the .pfx file that my Admin gave
me. It wants a .cer file. Does this make sense? I don't really understand
any of this in detail but it seems I'm close to making it work, if I can get
the thing to accept the certificate. Can anyone provide any instructions, or
info I can pass on to my admin as to what needs to be done server-side?
Thanks,
Mike
.
