OWA And User Must Change Password at next logon

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Eric,

I'm currently working on an issue with Exchange 2003, OWA, and changing
passwords. I found a thread on the microsoft.public.exchange.admin newsgroup
that you started back in 2004 with the same issue. It states:

"If we reset a password on an user account with the option that the user
must

change the password at the next logon, the end user is not allowed to logon

through the OWA with the reset password. The server is Windows

2003/exchange 2003.

Has anyone run into this before?

You mention in a subsequent thread that you opened a call with MS PSS and it
was due to the IISADMPWD having to run in it's own application pool. I have
it running in the ExchangeApplicationPool, per the MS KB article 297121. Do
you recall or have record of exactly what you did to get it working?

Also in that thread someone from MS stated that the IISADMPWD virtual
directory had to have anonymous access allowed to it. I tried that to no
avail. No matter what kind of directory security I have set, my browser just
sits there saying "Website found.waiting for reply," and then "Page cannot
be displayed." Strangely, if I then click on the refresh button, I get to
the password change page and can change the password.
