Unfortunately, the answer is no. You "might" find some sort of 3rd party
plugin that allows you to connect using the Mail program to multiple servers
using, say, Http (WebDav), but I've personally never seen anything like
that.

You're correct, Ben. We have simply disabled the functionality on
Exchange.
I understand we COULD enable secure POP or IMAP, but we haven't done so.
My question remains - is there a way (besides enabling POP or IMAP) to
grant
users access to multiple Exchange mailboxes on their Treo?

The question seems to be whether you want the functionality of accessing
multiple mailboxes (like you did in Sendmail), or whether you want the
added
security that you believe disabling POP3 and IMAP provides. The "we used
to
be able to do this on..." gripe isn't valid, because you *can* do that
with
Exchange. You've just chosen to disable that functionality.
The capability of handheld devices is rather limited. They can connect
via
POP3 or IMAPv4, or if they are Windows-based (or the 650), they can use
ActiveSync.
What are your security reasons for disabling POP3 and IMAP? If it's
passwords being transmitted in plain text, then you can always set up the
POP3 and IMAP servers to require SSL so that the connection is encrypted.

We have recently migrated to Exchange 2003 and are dealing with the "we
used
to be able to do this on <insert name of any mail server here>..."
gripes.
One of the things that certain high-end users are complaining about is
the
fact that they are no longer able to access their multiple mailboxes
using
a
Treo device. Previously, they would just create a bunch of POP or IMAP
connections to the Sendmail server and access all their mailboxes, but
we
have not enabled POP or IMAP to the Internet for security reasons
(although
users can use IMAP after making a VPN connection).
Anyway, is there any way that users can, without a lot of effort,
connect
to
2 or 3 mailboxes using their Treo's? We have users set up with
ActiveSync,
but that only gets you one mailbox. We are willing to investigate
add-on
solutions if necessary. The idea of using OWA from their Treo's was
shot
down
quickly.
Thanks in advance.
Dave
