Once everything is moved to the new server, modify the D-Link configuration.

I am moving my exchange 2003 to the new hardware.
My present Exchange box has external interface setup so that D-Link router
can route emails through to it. When I install the new server, do I need
to
setup an external interface or can I do all the data transfer and setup
the
External interface just before I make it a Master? I am not sure how much
can
I do just having an internal interface on the new server. I realize that
sooner or later I will need to move the external interface to the new
server,
but I am not sure at which point should that be done.
Thank you in advance.
