Have you restarted SMTP service after making those changes? Reboot the
Exchange server lately?

I need some help setting up an SMTP Connector. At least that is what
I think I need.
I am running Exchange 2003. Everything is working great. I have a
server running some mailing list software. That server is listening
on port 2525 for SMTP traffic. The server name is lists.domain.com.
So, the mailing list server is not your Exchange server?
I must still be doing something wrong. I have gone through all ofWhen one of my users sends mail through the Exchange server, how do I
setup Exchange so it knows to send to that server via the IP and port
2525?
Well, assuming that your users will want to sent mail to other domains
too, you'll need two SMTP Connectors and two SMTP Virtual Servers.
The first SMTP Virtual Server is the default one. It's probably
already set up to send and receive on port 25. Leave that one alone.
Assuming you have two IP addresses assigned to your server, the second
SMTP Virtual Server will be set up to send on port 2525 (use the
"Outbound Connections..." button on the "Delivery" tab to set the port
number to 2525), and to listen on the second IP address on port 25. If
you have only one IP address then set the second SMTP Virtual Server
to listen on port 2525.
The first SMTP Connector will have an address space value of "*". It
will use the default SMTP Virtual Server as its local bridgehead
server (sending and receiving on port 25).
The second SMTP COnnector will have an address space of
lists.domain.com and it will use the second SMTP Virtual Server as its
local bridgehead server (sending on port 2525 and listening on either
25 or 2525, depending on the numberof IP addresses you have on the
server).
those settings and have them as you mention above. But, I still get a
bounce saying there is a mail loop. I noticed in the Queues that it
is trying to use the Default SMTP Virtual Server. How come it is not
using my new virtual server?
I have tried setting up an SMTP Connector and an SMTP Virtual Server,
but I just could not get it set correctly. It kept saying something
about a mail loop. Do I also have to set up a recipient policy for
the domain of lists.domain.com?
Only if you're accepting mail addressed to *@lists.domain.com on the
Exchange server.
OK.
Thanks,
Jeff
