see, windows firewall isn't even on.
it says the windows firewall can't be configured because some other
process is being used.

The fact that it works locally and not remotely seems to suggest that it
could be a firewall issue. Have you checked the Windows firewall and
made sure it allows traffic to port 110 through?

I have a microsoft exchange Server running as part of a Windows 2003
Small Business Server.
I have a domain that forwards e-mail to my 2003 server. Everything
works great. I sent test messages from Gmail and I could see them
instantly appear in my Exchange e-mail storage area.
So I tried to configure Outlook to download the messages via POP3.
It says it can see the server, but the server won't respond to it or
accept a login. It tells me to check SSL ports.
So I installed Outlook Express ON the server just to see if I could
download messages via POP3 withhout going over the Internet and it
worked. When I'm using Outlook express running on the exchange server
the e-mail download works just fine.
I know every part of the puzzle works except for Outlook running on a
remote client.
This is my first time setting this up. Is there something easy I'm
missing?
