Default is going to be "Authenticated users" - basically, all user accounts
in the domain.
Anonymous is just that - anyone that doesn't authenticate.
For the most part, the anonymous permissions won't apply, as it is not
commonplace to allow anonymous access to public folders, even via OWA. If
you don't allow anonymous access to PF's, then you should be able to safely
remove the Anonymous permissions.

Can anyone point to a KB article, or any official MS statement, about
exactly
what Default and Anonymous in the client permissions for Public Folders
mean
? I'm taking the 2400 course for Exchange 2003 administration and it is
not
covered in the book. Also I've been in the field many years, and have
found
little to no information concerning this topic.
I believe Default includes the "Everyone" group and relates to access via
the Outlook client. While Anonymous is the "Everyone" group along with the
"Guest" account, and pertains to OWA access.
Is this correct ? Any help would be appreciated.
