Presumably the SP does nothing irreversable to the database format - nor
writes anything to the AD/Configuration.
I've noticed that Ms06-019 (when applied to SP1) seems to change
behaviour and broke incoming FAX delivery (a third party FAX system
which uses a MAPI connector. Messages built up in the MTS-IN). I think
the security fix brought in a post-Sp2 version of Store...
