Where is the mailbox that you're archiving to? Are you able to successfully
send mail to that mailbox by itself, outside of the journaling scenario?

hello, here following my scenario:
- exchange organization with different sites in mixed mode
- server exch2k3 with sp2 in DMZ zone (it acts as front-end server and
collects external messages to deliver to the internal exchange server)
- server exch2k2 with sp3 in TRUSTED zone (it acts as backup-server and
keeps user mailboxes)
problem:
by enabling the journal option "archive all messages sent or received by
mailboxes on this store" on the exchange server in the TRUSTED zone, the
front-end server in DMZ zone can't deliver any message to the mailbox
users and they stay in "MESSAGES AWAITING DIRECTORY LOOKUP" queue of the
exch2k3 server
as soon as i remove the journal option and restart the SMTP service all
messages are deliverd
question:
why ?
thank you in advance to everybody
mp
