Re: NNTP NewsFeeds via Exchange

I don't use NNTP with Exchange, so unfortunately, I can't recommend any.
How many people are going to be using these newsgroups? If it is just a few
(and for the Microsoft newsgroups), it really is better to just use a
desktop newsreader (such as Outlook Express). I gave up long ago of trying
using Exchange for NNTP.

I realized the other day that I couldn't use the MS news servers. I have
since tried NewsDemon without any luck and I have contacted a few others,
but
haven't heard back. Would you recommend a particular provider?

Which news server are you pointing to in the configuration to pull feeds
from? You can't use Microsoft's nntp server - they don't allow it. If
you
aren't getting feed items, this usually indicates that you are not
allowed
to pull feeds from the server you have configured. I'd contact your ISP
and
see if they have an NNTP server that is configure with the newsgroups
that
you want, and if they will allow you to pull feeds from them.

Thanks for the article. I took a look and have setup the feed
correctly,
but
I am still not getting any articles. I have read on other sites that
when
you use the NNTP features with exchange, that it pulls the articles
using
a
"NewsFeeder Command" that is usually disabled on news servers. Does
anyone
know if this is correct? Has anyone successfully done this before, and
if
so
what News provider are you using?

Thanks

I am trying to use the newsreader functionality of exchange 2003. My
understanding is that through the Exchange System Manager, I can
setup
a
connection to a news server, subscribe to certain groups, and have
them
published to my public folders for our internal users to take
advantage
of.
I have setup the connection, and I get a listing of groups, but
there
are
no
articles in the groups. I have tried with the microsoft newsgroups
and
a
site called newsdemon, but I get the same result with both. Can I
not
use
this feature with the same type of service that I would use for a
desktop
news reader? Does anyone know of a service that I should be using?
Any
help
would be appreciated.

Thanks
