Re: OWA Doesn't work

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

There should be no need to wipe the box.

I'd recommend as a next step to
1. uninstall, then reinstall IIS (Add/Remove Programs, Windows Components)
2. Reinstall Exchange 2003 (run setup, choose reinstall from the dropdown
menu).
3. Reinstall Exchange 2003 SP's and hotfixes.

This should totally reset everything related to OWA. I'd be quite surprised
if OWA still doesn't work after this. This entire procedure I would guess
would take 30-45 minutes, and obviously should be done after hours.

Note that if you currently have a certificate installed in IIS, you should
export it/back it up prior to doing this. This also assumes that
Exchange/OWA is the only website running on your Exchange server.

I did that last night. It made some difference. Prior to running through
this when someone accessed the site, the WWW service on the Exchange
server
would no longer stop and start. After completing this I can stop/start
the
WWW service. However, I now get an HTTP 500 Internal Server Error
accessing
the site. This occurs whether I go to the default site or fully qualified
with /Exhange/mailbox

I'm running Win 2000 Server and Exchange 2003.

I've been fighting with OWA for 2 weeks. My predecessor left it broken
and I
have no idea what he did. I have read several articles on how to set
the
permissions. Done that. I have gone so far as to delete all of the
OWA
folders under the default web site. That made a difference - the WWW
service
doesn't hang now when you try to access the site.

But still no joy in Mudville. :-(

Any ideas are very greatly appreciated. My next step is to wipe and
reload
the server. I really don't want to do that.

Thank you.
