Hi,
Is there by chance any file system-based anti-virus software installed on
this system that might be scanning those files?
If so, check to make sure those files, the Exchange transaction log files,
the IIS Temporary Compressed Files folder, and the Windows pagefile. For
more information, see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;823166.

Hi,
I've got an Exchange 2000 SP3 box, one of 2 that don't do much beside
route mail. They hardly contain any mailboxes. On one I got a priv1.edb
of approx. 5.5 gb and an priv1.stm of 640 mb. On the other one I got a
priv1.edb of 6.1gb and a priv1.stm of an incredible 14gb.
The priv1.stm file suddenly quadrupled in size and by suddenly I mean
in the last 6 hours.
It's now gotten to the point where I don't even have the disk space to
run an eseutil /d on it. I did run an eseutil /mh and that doesn't
report any problems. All the other files look normal.
LAst night this server also had problems with mounting it's mailbox
store because the e00.log file had dissapeared. I resolved the problems
and after that it seemed to be functioning well.
I googled quite a bit but can't find any fitting explanation why this
file suddenly gets that big.
Does anyone have any ideas about this?
