First of all I'd be surprised if there is any documentation that deals with
this situation. It is very unique. My recommendation would to be attempt an
uninstall from the Exchange setup program. If this is successful you should
be good to go. If this is not successful try this:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/833396/en-us
One word of caution. I do not think you are doing yourself any favors by
taking this approach. If possible leave the Exchange box up and running.
This type of testing in a production environment can cause a lot of
problems.

I have a mixed enviornment of one exchange 5.5 and one exchnage 2003.
I want to uninstall exchange 2003 from the enviornment. I have no
mailboxes
left
on exchange 2003.
Actually, I never moved a mailbox from exchnage 5.5 enviornment. Anyway,
I looked at microsoft site and found this
. If you have Exchange Full Administrator permissions at the
administrative
group level, you can uninstall Exchange 2003, provided that you have
permissions for the administrative group to which the server belongs.
-- Have permissions !
. If there are any mailboxes assigned to a storage group on a server, you
cannot uninstall Exchange 2003 from that server. In this case, you must
either move or delete the mailboxes before you can uninstall Exchange.
-- Already performed this !
. You cannot uninstall Exchange 2003 from a server if it is the only
server
in your organization running the Recipient Update Service. Instead, you
must
first use Exchange System Manager to enable the Recipient Update Service
on
another server.
Well, this is the done that I have doubt about. My other server is an
exchange 5.5 and how do I go about this ?
. You cannot uninstall Exchange 2003 from a server if it is the only
server
in a mixed administrative group that is running Site Replication Service
(SRS). Instead, you must first enable SRS on another Exchange server.
Well, this is the done that I have doubt about. My other server is an
exchange 5.5 and how do I go about this ?
. You cannot uninstall Exchange 2003 from a server if it is a bridgehead
server for a connector and there are other Exchange servers in your
organization. Instead, you must first designate a new bridgehead server.
Similarily, I have doubts about this as well. I have no orther bridgehead
servers.
. You cannot uninstall Exchange 2003 from a server if it is the routing
master and there are other Exchange servers in your organization. Instead,
you must first designate a new routing master.
The routing master is exchnage 5.5 but how can I confirm and check this.
The following prerequisites are not enforced by Exchange Setup and must be
manually checked:
. If your server is in one administrative group, but is also in a routing
group that exists in a different administrative group, you must have
permissions for both administrative groups (or to the Exchange
organization),
otherwise the uninstall process will fail.
Thanks,
Jazzy !
