Re: Multiple Domains 1 Exchange 2003 server

After you posted this problem before? If not then I have deja vu. Anyway,
have you checked your zone configuration via dnsreport.com? Did you use
recipient policies to setup the email addresses? Check you SMTP logs to see
if they shed any more light.

This is a little odd and I am growing frustrated, perhaps someone here
has a solution. I have one Exchange 2003 server with 2 domain names for
emails. Setting this up was simple enough and people get emails to both
domains. Here is the problem we are having.

Joe has two email addresses, joe@xxxxxxx and joe@xxxxxxxx joe@abc is
the default. Now an outside person sends Joe an email @abc.com. It
bounces back with the error:
RCPT TO generated following response:
550 5.7.1 Unable to relay for joe@xxxxxxx
However if this same person send an email to joe@xxxxxxx it works fine.
Let me also point out that Joe can get emails @abc.com from other
people only a select few bounce back, but they can all send to
Joe@xxxxxxxx

This one is driving me crazy. It is not just one user having this
problem.
What could be the same about the people sending?
Could it be compatibility with their mail server?
Why cab they receive mail at 1 domain from the same user and not at the
other?
If relay was really the issue wouldn't it reject every email for that
domain?

Hope someone can help.
