got error setting up firewall
and error setting up email.
and still have same problem connecting to server.
there was alot about wizard that I didn't know which option to choose. so
I'm just guess what to do.
I assume firewall fails because I only have one nic card.
I only have one server as well
it said there maybe conflict with smtp server.
maybe I should turn off smtp server before I run wizard.
this is all very murky.
thanks

I got activesync working by giving up on trying to figure out what
permissions changes to make in IIS and just running the internet
connection wizard in the SBS server managament page and checking to
allow mobile access (I forget the exact phrasing, but you'll see it if
you go through the wizard). All other setting will remain the same as
long as you don't change them so you don't have to worry about breaking
anything. I haven't gone back through yet to try to figure out what
exactly it changed, but my mobile clients all got access after I ran
the wizard when they previously had access denied errors.
