The fact that the email is being generated by an internal server does not
make it "internal" for Exchange. Add the IP address of the ESX server to
your IP Accept list.
Do this from the Exchange System Manager: Global Settings | Message Delivery
| Connection Filtering | Accept
Also make sure to enable Connection Filtering from SMTP Virtual server
properties under the General Property Page | Advanced | <select IP> | Edit
Finally since you are using Exchange SP2 check the following for possible
complications:

Just installed SP2 for Exchange 2003.
For some reason and on random days, IMF is causing only 1 internal mail to
be archived and deleted by IMF.
The mail in question is a reporting backup log from an ESX servers. The
mail is in the format : backupESX@xxxxxxxxxx
So every 2 days, I need to go the UceArchive folder on the Exchange box
and copy the mail in the PickUp folder.
Is there something I can do to prevent this?
