We are on Windows 2003 (cluster) with Exchange 2003. My problem is we
performed a reboot this past weekend and once exchange is back up I see
over 4,000 emails from Feb. 9th that are just now being sent to the
users. I want to know if any one has any idea as to why this has
happened? Also, how can I pervent this from happening again?
When things like this happen is sometimes caused by your anti-virus
software (or some other software) holding a file open while Exchange
tries to delete the file. The delete fails and Exchange "forgets"
about the file -- until you restart Exchange.
Make sure your AV software isn't scanning the mailroot directory (or
its sub-directories), or the MTADATA directory, or any of the MDBDATA
diectories.
