A reinstallation should not impact your current environment unless you have
changed anything which of course is a possibility.
https://owa.ourdomain.com/exchange Yes this will secure your OWA session.
Getting back to your missing graphics. When you right click on the redX do
you get a path. Does the path look right?
The physical path on your server should be something like this:
C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\exchweb\img
Are they there? If so then the IIS virtual directories might be messed up.

1. Have you tried reinstalling Exchange? It should fix any simpleWhat impact will reinstalling Exchange have on the existing setup? If
problems
that you're having. This assumes that there is nothing wrong with the
underlying IIS install.
it's mearly recopying settings and files (i.e. not messing up the
existing working system) I'm OK with trying that.
I'm not sure if I did mess up IIS. When I got the certificate from
InstantSSL.com I tried different settings to get the cert request
completed so they could issue the certificate. But being new to SSL I
wasn't sure of what I needed to do next (after the certificate had
been authorized.) So its quite possible that I set something wrong
with IIS 6 as well.
2. In order to provide secure access to OWA you will need to purchase an
SSL
certificate and ensure your users use https. This will require opening
port
443 on your firewall and providing your users with a fully qualified
domain
name, eg webmail.company.com. This may require you to add records to your
DNS zone.
I did get an SSL certificate (the issued a free one for 30 days...a
period I figured would be sufficient to test this before spending
money on a longer term certificate.) I did open and forward port 443
to the Exchange server on the LAN. I also set up a DNS record that
points users on the outside to our exchange site (e.g.
owa.ourdomain.com points to our office firewall's public IP port.)
From the firewall the traffic on port 80 and 443 is sent to the
Exchange server.
Any thoughts on the IIS and/or Exchange issue? What else do I need to
do to make sure IIS/OWA are working properly? What changes do I need
to make to ensure that IIS is using this new certificate for secure
(128 bit) communications? From the outside, do I just use:
https://owa.ourdomain.com/exchange
to hit our exchange server securely?
Thanks, Neu, for your guidance with this. I'm a bit lost here and
haven't been able to find anything on the web about troubleshooting
OWA inside the LAN.
