1. Have you tried reinstalling Exchange? It should fix any simple problems
that you're having. This assumes that there is nothing wrong with the
underlying IIS install.
2. In order to provide secure access to OWA you will need to purchase an SSL
certificate and ensure your users use https. This will require opening port
443 on your firewall and providing your users with a fully qualified domain
name, eg webmail.company.com. This may require you to add records to your
DNS zone.

I have Exchange set up in our lab here at the office. We have 1 DC and
an exchange server and 3 test workstations (this is our test lab
setup.) Exchange is working well through Outlook. We are able to send
and receive mail.
I want to look at using OWA (over the internet). I tried a few things
and think I messed up OWA through IIS somehow because NOW when I use a
browser to see OWA I get a screen but no graphics (just empty
place-holder boxes with red X's in them, some headings on the left
pane and 3 headings on the right, more empty boxes and nothing else.
If I click on the items I get "Page cannot be displayed" in the
browser.
So, I guess I need to know two things:
1) how can I diagnose what's wrong with OWN INSIDE the network
2) Once fixed, how do I set up OWA for access OUTSIDE the network
(securely through the internet is our deisre.)
Thanks for any adivce. I'm making progress with this but it's sure
slow...
