If it is bringing up the parameters list, you aren't typing something in
right.
Most likely, it's the space that's throwing it off. Either use tab-complete
to complete the directory, which will add in quotation marks automatically,
or manually add them around the path.
eseutil /d "c:\program files\exchsrvr\mdbdata\priv1.edb" should work fine,
for instance.

We have Windows Small Business Server 2003 with Exchange 2003, no service
packs. The Exchange database needs to be defragged but I cannot get the
ESEUTIL program to work. I use Exchange System manager to dismount the
Administrative Groups Mailbox Store (servername) and Public Folder Store
(servername), change directoy to C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\Bin, then start
ESEUTIL /d C:\Program Files\Exchsrvr\MDBDATA\Priv1.edb with no options. I
get
a response to type "D" to defrag the database but it just ends without
doing
anything and returns me to the ESEUTIL parameter description screen. There
is
plenty of space on the disk drive (20+GB). We temporarily changed the
default
database size in te registry so that Exchange can continue to run until it
outgrows the max again or until it needs to be restarted but we need a
more
permanent solution. I know I'm missing something here - any help is truly
appreciated!
