Re: My exchange server forward to the wrong GC catalog

Tech-Archive recommends: Fix windows errors by optimizing your registry

That is the preferred behavior for SP2. That should not be causing you any
problems.

I have manually add 2 GC's for backup. The problem is that Exchange
select's
GC the domain where the mailbox are placed.

Um - I don't buy it. Also, statically configuring DSAccess will present
major problems if the statically configured GC ever has an issue.
Namely,
Exchange will fall over because it can't fail over to another GC unless
you
have specified multiple GC's.

http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=http%3a%2f%2fwww.support.microsoft.com%2fkb%2f250570%2fen-us%2f
details how DSAccess works. It should not be using domain controllers in
other domains unless there are problems contacting the GC's in it's own
domain.

I'd download and run the latest Exchange Best Practices Analyzer and see
if
it highlights any problems. I'd also look at the event logs and see if
you
find anything.

Exchange is probably attempting to load balance based on your first
cluster using the GC in the Exchange domain. I would keep the manual
configuration until you decommission the old cluster and it should then
fix itself.

Hello

We have a clustered Exchange 2003 SP1 (Windows 2003 no SP) env. I have
installed a second Exchange 2003 SP2 cluster (windows 2003 SP1) for a
migration. The problem with the new cluster is that it's forwarding
clients
to the wrong Domain controller in a other domain (same subnet). Then
the
outlook 2002 client has problems with resolving the correct
addresslist
en it
show error " The bookmark is invalid. The client also cann't send
e-mail.
If
i configure the Directory services in Exchange manually everything
works
fine.

Who knows what the problems is?
