Re: Microsoft Clustering on Exchange 2003

Tech Tip: Click here to run a free scan for Windows Errors and optimize PC performance

This is great information! Now that you mention it I bet it is the log
replay time. I will configure our backup software to run more often and
do some performance testing with the convergence times.

As for the clustering solution we are looking at the Exchange server
doesn't need to reply the logs. Think of it as a RAID 1 drive, or
mirror. Everything that is written to one is written to the other. If
one goes off line the controller can read and write from the second.
When the first comes back on line the controller brings the first up to
speed by using data from the second. As I understand it this solution
works almost exactly like a mirrored drive. There is almost no
convergence time, you can use a SAN although you don't need one, and
you don't have to buy an enterprise licence for Windows. The only
drawback that I can see is that you have to have twice the disk space,
but disk is cheep. The technology looks great, but I want to talk to
someone who has some experience using this, or other alternatives.
Anyway it is just a solution we are looking at.

You have given me some great information to test with. Thank you!

Mike
