Re: How To Import/Programically Change Primary Internet E-mail Address

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

How is the 5.5 directory export/import tool too limited? It gives you the
ability to modify virtually every attribute in the directory. You may need
the header.exe tool to generate a master csv file to export against, but it
certainly should allow you to do this. If you don't want to use header.exe
to generate a master header file, do an export, clear the contents (except
for the headers) and then add a column header with Secondary-Proxy-Addresses
as the header. When you modify the csv file, you would move the primary to
the Secondary list and then add the new one where the primary e-mail was.

For Exchange 2000, it's basically the same. Instead of the info being
stored in the Exchange directory, it's stored in Active Directory. You can
use any LDAP tool that you want to export the information, though the
built-in ones seem to do fairly well. In order to Modify information,
you'll have to use LDIFDE as CSVDE does not allow you to modify information,
only create and delete.

You can also use ADModify to change this information.

Please note that the above information assumes that your 5.5 and 2000
servers are in Separate Orgs! If they aren't, then you should only need to
modify it in one place and let the ADC replicate the changes to the other
side.
