Re: Problem with distribution groups

Dear Aaron,

Thank you for your post!

First of all, I would like to confirm that I understand your problem
correctly, you have one forest with three domains and they all trusted. You
have created a distribution group which contains all the users, but users
in other domains do not receive the email destined to the distribution
group. Please feel free to let me know if I am off base.

It seems that you are using domain local group, is that true? If so, it
could be the case because domain global/local distribution group membership
appears only on global catalogs in the domain of that group. To resolve
this issue, use universal distribution groups rather than global or domain
local scope to ensure proper e-mail delivery. For more information, please
refer to the following Knowledge Base Article:

XADM: Message Delivery to Global Groups Does Not Work
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;271930

I am not sure why you are unable to create a universal group, but I
recommend you try the following steps to see if it makes a difference:

1. Create a global group in each domain that contains the users.
2. Create a universal group that contains those three global group.
3. Test the mail flow again.

You can take a look at the following article for more information:

If the problem persists, please send me the message tracking for further
analysis:

1. Start Exchange System Manager.
2. Double-click Server object.
3. Click the server you want to enable Message Tracking on, and then click
Properties.
4. On the General tab, click to select the Enable Message Tracking check
box. This option logs information about the sender, the time the message
was sent or received, the message size and priority, and the message
recipients.
5. To record the subject of any message sent to, from, or through the
server, click to select the Enable Subject Logging and Display check box.
6. Reproduce such issue.
7. Send me a screenshot of the message tracking result to my working email
address: wensun@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx
