Not every PF would have a copy on the user's machine. Only the folders
in the user's "Favorites" are cached on the client.

SharePoint. Web server. File server. How you deal with this depends on
what's in the folders. PF's are not good at document management.
SharePoint isn't very good at dealing with messages (although you can
use discussion groups on the SPS server -- the problem is that the
contents of the discussion would then have to be replicated to the SPS
servers in other locations).
