Re: migrate mailboxes to another domain (trusted)

Hi Jeff,

Are you running Exchange 200X
Have you ran domainprep in your other domain?
Do you have just one Exchange server or two Exchange servers (One in each
domain)?

The procedure I use is to dis-associate the mailbox from the user account by
deleting it(Double check that you have mailbox retention enabled and set
before doing this) wait for Recipient update services (RUS) to run or run it
manually.

In Exchange System Manager check the Mailbox Store | Mailboxes look for the
dis-associated mailbox with cross on it. Right click on it and select
reconnect, reconnecting it to the account in the other domain.

If you dont have accounts in your other domain then migrate them by using
the Active Directory Migration Tool (ADMT)

Run RUS again sync the domain, then the mailbox will be associated with the
account on the other domain.

Some people have told me this procedure does not work because, permissions
SIDs are not changed/Added for the new Account in the other domain. But I
have used this procedure hundreds of times, without failure.

Regards
