Check to make sure there is an Exchange Domain Servers group in each of the
child domains.
If there isn't then run setup /domainprep in each child domain.
By design, the Recipient Update Service tries to contact a global catalog
server in each of the other domains after you install Exchange. The
Recipient Update Service has to add the Exchange Domain Servers group in
the remote domains to the Exchange Enterprise Servers group in the local
domain. The Recipient Update Service first tries to resolve that global
catalog server by host name, and then the Recipient Update Service uses the
Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) to contact the global catalog
server. The error messages in the "Symptoms" section of this article are
generated if these LDAP calls do not work, either because of network
connectivity issues (such as incorrectly configured firewalls) or Domain
Name System (DNS) name resolution issues.
Also make sure your DNS is configured and working properly so there is good
name resolution to all the domains
I hope that helps,
.
