Exchange needs a 3rd party fax connector. If you have a 3rd party fax
solution then install the Exchange agent onto your server and it
certainly will recognise [fax:555 etc] You will see the connector in
the same place as you currently see your Internet Mail Service.

If you don't have a 3rd party fax app (faxination, rightfax, zeta
etc.) then you can't fax through Exchange (any version, not just 5.5)
