Messages with German content

I'm running Exchange 5.5 and NT 4.
Over the last weekend end users started receiving lots of messages from many
different sources. All the messages have content in German. Examples of the
titles are among others:
Deutsche Buerger trauen sich nicht
Tuerkei in die EU
The Whore Lived Like a German
it looks like Spam but my filter, a McAfee WebShield appliance is not
catching them so I wonder if it is realy Spam. Any ideas as to what's going
on? thanks.
