We have just recently installed SBS 2003 Premium Edition. We are using
Exchange 2003. Currently we have all email delivered to our webhost to the
pop3 accounts. We use the POP3 Connector to bring in the email to the
exchange server. We send our outgoing email to the webhost's smtp servers.
On two occasions we have had problems sending out email because it appears
that the webhost is not allowing the relay.
5.7.1 smtp;550 5.7.1, Relaying Denied
I am told by the webhost that this might be because we need to login to the
smtp server before we relay out email. They said that we should sign-in
every 10 minutes. Now the POP3 Connector shows the best schedule is every
minutes. And we do have passworks in the account.
QUESTIONS IS: Is there a setting in Exchange to set a smpt server signin?
FYI, We are planning to move from this shortly. Before I did that I wanted
to have a better strategy on how to handle spam in place.
