Hi Ken,

We have tested this KB and it works fine. The workflow is:

1. When you use http://*** URL for the OWA with SSL, IIS will return the
error 403.4. As usual, you should see the error page as below:

=====================================
Please try the following:

Type https:// at the beginning of the address you are attempting to reach
and press ENTER.
HTTP Error 403.4 - Forbidden: SSL is required to view this resource.
Internet Information Services (IIS)
=====================================

2. Since we have already known that error number would 403.4, so we could
catch this error event and customize the error handle to redirect to
another HTTP page. As described in KB555126, the error result page is:
/owa_redirect/owahttps.asp. This is the step 12 in that KB article.

3. There is a script in owahttps.asp that redirects the browser to open
https://*** link.

So, in order to isolate the problem, please verify you can access
owahttps.asp (the redirect page) directly. Type

http://ServerName/owa_redirect/owahttps.asp

in the address field, would you see this page and be redirect to OWA?

If you encounter a password prompt here, then the problem is caused by that
you have not permission to browse this page. Please follow the steps below
to fix this problem:

1. Open IIS snap-in, open the properties pane of "owa_redirect" virtual
directory
2. Switch to Directory Security/Edit, verify you have allowed the anonymous
access, and remember the account used here, presuming it is USER_A
3. Locate to the physical folder of "owa_redirect", open its permission
setting pane, and then verify whether USER_A has read permission to this
NTFS folder. You can also set everyone has read permission to this folder
4. Restart IIS, test the issue again.

If the problem persists, please help to collect IIS log and the send to me
at v-patcai@microsoft.com. So I can do some further research for you.
Please repro the problem again, then collect the IIS log. To do so, please
refer to:

Hope the information helps. If anything is unclear, please feel free to let
me know.

Pat Cai
