Okay, I have copied my priv.edb, pub.edb, and dir.edb. I have removed
exchange.
  Re-installed Exchange and same problem. So obvousily there is a
problem somewhere on this server that is stopping the exchange
services starting.
   I don't know really what could be doing this all of a sudden but I
will keep working on it and any suggestions would be much appreciated.
