Hi,
Thanks for posting here.
Firstly, I would like to confirm that it is a by-design feature of Exchange
and there is no hotfix and some other patched to change this behavior.
"objtMessage" is used to limit the number of connections from each single
client to Exchange server. From the security and performance thoughts of
Exchange server, a high volume in a continued period is most likely to be a
malicious attack or cause the server in heavy workloads. So it is necessary
for us to determine such a limit number. Considering your current
situation, I suggest change the value to 500 if your users are required to
process a number of messages at the same time, as based on our experience
250 to 1000 is a secure scope for this value.
Actually, event 9694 is going to vary and cannot be predicted, but as
830829 states in worst cases it could cause unresponsiveness of the
Exchange server leading to complete outages for all mailboxes. This is the
whole point behind the default values for the max number of open objects.
If this was unconstrained then dysfunctional MAPI add-ons that do not close
the messages they open would lead very quickly to the demise of the server.
If it weren't for this event, administrators would never even know that
clients were malfunctioning. The remedy to the problem on the server-side
is actually already built into the product out of the box, which is
limiting the max number of objects that can be open at any one time. The
event is there to inform administrators that this functionality has been
invoked for it's own protection.
Hope the information helps. If anything is unclear, please feel free to let
me know.
Regards,
Pat Cai
