Hi,

I appreciate this is a question that's been asked a number of times before.
I've been going through previous posts about this but haven't been able to
crack it yet.

I have an Exchange 5.5 server on a remote domain. I need to export its
Global Address List (GAL) to a new Exchange 2003 server in a new domain.

I've got as far as exporting the list from 5.5 to a CSV file and moved this
to the 2003 box. From what I understand I now need to edit this file and use
CSVDE to import the contacts in AD. I've looked at the MS article KB327620
but I'm not quite clear on exactly what I need to do. From what I gather I
need to rename some of the fields so they're in AD format. And I need to
make sure the DN field is moved so it's in the first column. However, I
can't find a DN field to move. I've checked KB281563 for attribute mappings
but this one isn't listed on there.

I only need the bare minimum details so the people imported appear in the
GAL with their smtp email address and display name. So if I'm understanding
KB327620 correctly the fields I'll need will be:

objectClass (renamed from "Obj-Class")
DN (not sure where to get this from)
displayName (renamed from "Display Name")
proxyAddresses (renamed from "E-mail Addresses")

The only field I can see that resembles what I might expect to find in the
DN field is called Obj-Container. Just to try, I renamed this to DN and
placed it first in column A. I then deleted all other fields apart from the
ones I've mentioned above.

When I then try and import this I get the following error:

Connecting to "(null)"
Logging in as current user using SSPI
Importing directory from file "c:\exchange2.csv"
Loading entries
Parsing error. Last read character is 286
Syntax error on line 2
0 entries modified successfully.
An error has occurred in the program

I'm guessing this is because the DN field is not in the format AD is
expecting. But that's just my guess!

If anyone can tell me exactly what I need to do with the exported CSV file
so I can import it with the <csvde -i -f c:\filename.csv> command into AD
I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,

Curtis.
