Have you tried logging in using the username in the format of
domain\username? OWA typically requires the username to be entered in that
format unless you have set it up to not require it. You can also attempt to
log in using your UPN format username (i.e. username@domain.com - can be
different from your e-mail address, though).

Another option might be to turn on Forms-based authentication (requires SSL,
though).
