Or use an HA (High Availability) solution. We use a vendor app called
LifeKeeper that detects the loss of our Exchange server and automatically
fails over to another server. Requires a lot of setup and it ain't cheap,
but it works flawlessly. It involves mirroring the drive that has he
database and log files. Takes about 3-5 minutes to completely fail over.
Most users never notice that it even happened....

Also requires a standby machine with the resultant hardware and software
costs..
