| Hi,
|
| Can anyone tell me what permissions I need to set on the Exchsvrv
directory,
| and my EDB and LOG directories in order for exchange 2003 to operate?
|
| I have followed the guidelines in
| http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;328229 but I still
| get Access Denied messages in the event log when exchange tries to create
| log files, and the IS will not mount, giving error:
|
| Error 0xfffffbf8 starting Storage Group
| /DC=local/DC=MyDomain/CN=Configuration/CN=Services/CN=Microsoft
| Exchange/CN=MyDomain/CN=Administrative Groups/CN=first administrative
| group/CN=Servers/CN=MailServer/CN=InformationStore/CN=First Storage Group
on
| the Microsoft Exchange Information Store.
| Storage Group - Initialization of Jet failed.
|
| From the KB article, I need to give access to the builtin group "Server
| Operators" (which I can see in AD), but when I browse to the Exchsvrv
folder
| and attempt to add the group, I cannot find it. If I enter the name by
hand,
| I get a "Server Operators is not recognised" message.
|
| Any ideas?
|
| Thanks,
| steve

Hi Steve,
The permissions you require are:
Administrators (ServerName\Administrators) - Full Control
System - None
Creator Owner - None
Click the Advanced Button
Creator Owner - Full Control - Apply To: Subfolders and Files
The following are additional by default:
Power Users (ServerName\Power Users) - Modify
Users (ServerName\Users) - Read/Execute, List Content, Read
Note: The 'Server Operators' group is only available to add when your
server is a DC/GC, so is not required for a Member Server.
Also, uncheck the 'Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to
propergate...' button on the \Exchsrvr directory
But make sure you check this box for all subdirectories underneath this...
(i.e. MDBDATA)

Val
