The NDRs are really no different than any message in that your server will
retry delivery of them for X days before failing. You can choose not to send
NDRs at all, but that will affect legit business mail, too - and you
probably want your company's valid senders to get an NDR if they misadress
something, rather than thinking the message got through....

If you're getting a ton of spam and don't want to send NDRs to every scumbag
spammer who tries to send mail to your domain, it may be time to invest in
anti-spam software or services....see www.gfi.com for one or www.postini.com
for the other.

It's only when a server which knows about all the valid users gets the mail, that it can be identified as invalid, by which time the link with the actual originating SMTP server has been long lost. ...
