We originally had an Exchange 5.5 organization with 2 sites - London & Canberra. We migrated to Exchange 2000 & moved users to new servers at each site, basically by adding E2K servers at each site, then doing a mailbox move. We then upgraded both servers to Exchange 2003 Enterprise & have changed to native mode.

This has left us with 2 Administrative Groups (Canberra & London), each with a routing group containing the servers located at those sites. There is a routing group connector between Canberra & Sydney & the sites are connected by a VPN connection between firewalls.

We have found if we move a mailbox between a server in London & a server in Canberra (eg for a user who has moved to London), mail will no longer be delivered to the mailbox, unless we move it back to it's original server. My understanding is that if we were to move all the servers into a common routing group, we would not have this problem. I would appreciate it if anyone could verify this.

To achieve this, I believe that we will need to remove the connector between London & Canberra, then move the London servers into the Canberra routing group. I'd appreciate it if someone could verify this or advise how best to do it and also to advise if this will cause any problems with message flow.
