Good morning, and thank you in advance for any
suggestions you can offer. I think this will be an easy
one - even though it's long - I just wanted to be
thorough.
SBS3 runs Exchange Server, configured to retrieve mail
via POP3 connector from our existing mail host using the
same (successful) settings as individual mail accounts on
our LAN have always used.
When I open Outlook and click the "Test Account
Settings..." button on the properties page, I receive the
test mail as expected. However, if I then click
New>Mail, and compose a test to each of the three
recipients pointing to my Exchange mailbox on the Server,
no one in the To: line receives the mail (they're all
me).
On MyWorkstation, Oulook uses three accounts - each is a
different 'me' (Admin@, FirstName@, Info@). Two are
looking at the POP3 mail host in their accounts
respectively, and one looks at the Exchange Server
box "FirstName LastName".
The POP3 account settings & passwords work fine, using
mail.host.com, and I believe Exchange is stealing my
mail, but it won't let me have it. If I hit
mail.host.com during the idle period in the 15-minute
check interval, I can get my mail off the host. If I
miss the interval, the server takes it.
On MyServer, I have a box called FirstName, but on
MyWorkstation, Outlook's corresponding mailbox is called
FirstName LastName. Is this a problem?
I got the Outlook mailbox name from the 'Check Names'
button when configuring Outlook's Exchange connection (in
Control Panel>Mail on the Workstation), so I assumed it
was looking within the apropriate profile at the correct
mailbox name for routing.
The POP3 Mailboxes all indicate User Mailboxes, and
deliver to the Exchange Mailbox: FirstName. Still, the
Outlook account FirstName LastName receives nothing, and
no other options are available from the Check Names
dialogue box.
I thought I had done everything in the checklist when
configuring, and I read the process thoroughly. Can you
tell me where I went wrong or where to viw related KB
articles?
Thanks again for your valuable time,
Matthew
