In Exchange 5.5, the actual server name is irrelevant as to DNS lookups.
Your domain name should not have any underscores. The DNS tab of the TCP/IP
tab is what determines what an Exchange 5.5 server advertises itself as and
should match your PTR record. So if your PTR record is describing
mail.yourdomain.com, then in the DNS tab, the hostname should be mail and
the domain should be yourdomain.com. If you make changes here you will need
to reboot the server, so plan the timeslot accordingly for your business
needs.
