Try this, click office button, select excel options, select advanced in the left pane, scroll down to general and make sure "ignore other applications" is not selected, if selected clear that checkmark. Close Excel and try.
If that doesn't work click start>run in windows ( I assume it's similar in Vista)
In the box type
Excel.exe /UnregServer
then do
Excel.exe /RegServer

"Wen Yu" <yudingo@xxxxxxxxx> wrote in message news:OMigMHIFJHA.1460@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxHi guys, I have encountered a problem recently.
My OS is windows vista, and the OFFICE version is OFFICE 2007.
I am not sure whether the problem was caused by the operation I cleaned my disk, but indeed it occured after that. Its feature is:
Each time I open an excel(.xls or its 2007 version) by double clicking, there jumps out an error message box, saying,"Windows cannot find the file "...". Please make sure the filename is correct and then ry again".
However if I open EXCEL 2007 main project first and then open a file using "open" button, nothing is wrong. I don't know why. There is no same error happened on WORD or POWERPOINT, which could easily be opened by double clicking.
If you have ever encountered the same problem and know how to solve it, please give me some suggestions. Many thanks.
Kevin
